This template DOES NOT use the standard FrontPage navigation
"web-bots" for the button styled links shown to the left; however the
method we have used is very flexible and it is not difficult to adapt
these links to your needs.
Top Navigation Area
In the area at the top right of each page, we have used the standard
navigation set to "Global Level". This setting will show all pages on
the same level as the home (index) page.
Left Side Navigation
The links shown to the left are a simple bulleted list. The bulleted
list is placed in a special table with a CSS class assigned. Any links
you place inside of this area will automatically have the "button" look
you see.
The style sheet class works to remove the "bullet" and apply a background
image with a thin border to the various link states (normal, visited,
hover, and active). This button look will allow up to two lines of text.
We have also set a visual clue so you will see the page you are currently
viewing. This is done by highlighting the link for the current page. You
then right-click and select List Item Properties. In the window that appears,
click on the Style button. In that window in the Class area, type in the
word "current" without the quotes.
Other Options:
If you prefer using the FrontPage navigation features (Insert > Navigation),
you can delete our links, remove the class from the table cell, and insert
your own text navigation links that are based on your navigation structure.
If you have a favorite javascript for a rollover effect, we also give
you two button images you can use.
There are many effective ways to create the navigation structure of
your site. If you need more detailed information, please refer to the
FrontPage program's help files.
We have created this template package using FrontPage 2003; however
it is compatible with both FrontPage 2000 and 2002. If you are using
an earlier version of FrontPage which does not have the same text link
options, you may have to adjust the link style used on the text navigation
bars.
